If dogs had new years resolutions …

If Dogs had new years resolutions I think they would look a bit like this🐾

Try a more varied diet, with more healthy fresh produce. Eat more raw bones, tracheas, tripe sticks and rabbits ears to help with my stress levels and just for fun. Spend more quality time with my human. Sometimes I just like to be with them. We dont need to be doing anything other than just being.

Stop going to places that stress me out. My humans will understand if I’m the type of dog that doesnt like busy places, other dogs, people, cafes, pubs. It’s just who I am and it’s not good for my health to try and keep enjoying the places that actually make me unhappy. Have more quiet time to myself. Go on more adventures where I get to explore and sniff. Understand my human better. They dont mean to get frustrated and angry with me, they just dont always understand what it is to be a dog.

Be patient with them when they struggle with my language. They are not that clever and really struggle with their hearing and sense of smell. Get to play more with my toys or friends, if that’s what I enjoy doing. 🧏‍♀️

We all strive to reduce stress in our lives, do more of the things we enjoy, eat healthier, be more active, spend more time with the people we love. We have control over our own resolutions. We also have control over our dogs resolutions. They cant achieve them without us. So I’m going to work on what I want this year but also be better at supporting my dogs to be who they want to be too.

I have been volunteering at APROP since April 2018. You will normally find me there on Tuesday mornings, helping to care for, clean and feed the dogs. In 2019 I adopted Barney, a Podenco from APROP. In fact I have taken a distinct liking to the Podencos and some call me the Pod-Mother! I am also part of the adoptions team the fundraising team and I help by fostering dogs too. Helping animals brings me much joy and happiness into my life.
