Timple
ABOUT
Timple was born in 2015. In 2020 he first came to APROP. His feet were lacerated and he was completely exhausted, he had escaped and he did what comes so naturally to him, he hunted
Hunted until he literally dropped with exhaustion.
Back in his early days, he was never interested in interacting with other dogs like most Podencos but would quite happily share his space with them. What he did love was affection in the form of cuddles and strokes with his human friends.
He left us after some months, adopted by a local couple, but by early 2021 he was signed back over to APROP. To be honest the home was never ideal for Timple, a flat for a lot of dogs is no problem, but for Timple he needs space to sniff, wander about and a place to perform his extraordinary zoomie skills, with or without his current favourite teddy in tow
So now Timple is 9 years old, he has controlled leish, he has become a little grumpy at times with other dogs making it even more difficult to find a home for him, although he does not show any reactivity when out walking to anything.
His prey drive has not diminished with age, he will never be a dog that can be off lead outside. For this reason, he has to have a large outside area. He is not however a dog always looking for a way out, he is happy and settled in his own space.
Timple is a huge baby, if he has anything that needs attention, a wound or something similar, he will only let someone he really trusts near him to deal with it. A visit to the vet means a muzzle. For this reason there have been a few incidents where he has reacted badly, we cannot hide that for anyone with any interest in him. But with time and trust he is no problem.
If you asked our volunteers to vote 3 of their favourite dogs at the shelter, we cannot help having them, Timple would be on the majority of those lists.
He is a dog full of character, a dog to make you smile every day. A dog desperate for love and affection. A dog needing understanding
