Dog Kennel Refurbishment – June update
June has been a busy month for building works at APROP. We have seen much progress with the new quarantine kennels, which is really exciting for us all to see (including Katy who popped in to take a look!).
On the outside area in front of the kennels, concrete has been laid and over the top of this a covering to make sure it is easy for the volunteers to clean. This same covering is inside the kennels too, so that those pesky wee’s up the walls (that our boy dogs love to do!) can be cleaned up with no trouble at all. The outdoor areas for each kennel now have the walls constructed and the next job will be to put up the metal fencing and doors for each run.
The kennels themselves now have their doors re-fitted and new stronger fencing is used on the front of the kennels. Where possible we have reused as much of the old materials. Before we had wooden posts on the kennel doors (which the dogs loved to chew on!) … now its re-claimed metal poles we had on site from previous fencing thats been used.
Our builder has also hand made us a sink unit, so that all our quarantine dishes can be washed up in this area. This will avoid any cross-contamination of using our regular kitchen.
Talking about our regular kitchen, we are thrilled to have been gifted a new kitchen which is in the process of being fitted. Pictures and more info to come in our next update.
Things are really starting to take shape now, we hope that within the next couple of weeks that the quarantine will be up and running. New arrivals at APROP will never have had such a comfortable place to stay in.
As ever, thanks to everyone who is making this possible for us … Our fundraiser for the quarantine finished at the end of May and you donated over €1,000 which is a huge help. If you want to help in any way, just get in touch with us, we are always happy to hear from you.
